About the practice

About the practice

Do you feel unsettled or restless? Does your practice stay in your head? Are you looking for a regular group space to deepen practice?

Stillness that rests on attention alone tends to fade when the attention moves on. Stillness that is anchored in the body tends to stay easier.

We start low and slow: We ground into the body and breathe into the belly, we settle into the centre of our body, and let things open and emerge from there.

The aim is not a special state, but a settled base that carries into the rest of your day.

How a group practice goes

How a group practice goes

It's about 45 minutes of practice. Experienced practitioners go at their own depth within the same frame, newer ones typically stay with breath and belly for a while.

In a typical session, we start with arriving and grounding for a few moments. Then we follow the rising and falling of the belly and notice the movement of breath. We rest into the centre and from there sit together in silence for about 20 minutes. Lastly, we return through the senses and ground before we conclude the session.

You may open your eyes, pause or return to the breath at any point. After each session I stay another 10 minutes or so for questions or simply to check-in.

Who is this for?

Experienced practitioners who keep meeting the same pattern which practice could not resolve. A willingness and openness and curiosity to look at your own experience will be helpful.

Who is this not for?

Who is this not for?

Individuals in acute crisis, if you are in psychiatric treatment or have recently been, if you lose time or cannot recall parts of conversations, if you are currently destabilized ie. from a retreat.

In such a situation it means that I cannot be of help and that other things should be prioritized first. If I notice, I may point you towards people who are in a position to support you. This is coaching and not therapy and I do not diagnose or treat anything.

How is this different from therapy?

How is this different from therapy?

Most therapy builds insight, regulation or a corrective relationship over time. In therapy clients learn to understand their past and manage their pattern better. Therapy often work with the past and often with individuals who struggle to function in their day to day life.

What I do is coaching. I care about what is still present and how beliefs shape todays experiences of my clients. I also work narrower: I track one belief which my client decides to work on, and work toward resolving it rather than managing it. I work with stable clients functioning in day to day life.

I don‘t do clinical work. I am not a therapist, counsellor or mental health professional. I do not diagnose or treat people.

Should I stop working with my teacher or therapist?

Should I stop working with my teacher or therapist?

Nope. Your teacher guides your practice and your therapist covers ground that I cannot cover. We work on a specific belief that results in undesirable patterns and can do this alongside whatever support network you may have in place.

If you are in therapy, its worth telling your therapist about it, as its good that the people who support you closely know whats happening. Also, I would be grateful to hear if you work with a therapist.

As it is online, how do i best prepare for the session?

As it is online, how do i best prepare for the session?

Not much preparation needed. A quiet room without distraction and preferably nothing heavy or big right after the call. I suggest an extra 15 minute spare time at minimum just to let things settle but its not mandatory at all. I had clients move on to meetings right after the call and that worked for them as well. I prefer to take things easy afterwards and so I suggest similar to my clients.

Headphones help. A stable internet connection and functioning camera matter more.

If you have a clear pattern on your mind for the session, great, if not we‘ll get there together.

What if I don't know what my pattern is?

What if I don't know what my pattern is?

thats okey. Most people don‘t know it precisely. Knowing that something is stuck is good enough and we can work with that. Finding whats below this is part of the work I do so its not at all expected, though some people come in with clarity already. Both is fine.

What if something difficult comes up?

You can open your eyes, pause or return to the breath at any time. That is part of the practice too. I stay on for 10 minutes after each session for questions or simply to check in, and you can write to me in the days after.

Can I join alongside my own practice or teacher?

Yes. The group can sit next to whatever practice you already have. If you work with a teacher or therapist, it's good to let them know.

How do I prepare?

A quiet room, a chair or a cushion, and ideally nothing heavy right after. Having your camera on helps me hold the room and I believe it makes for a nicer group environment, so please have your camera on.
